Dear RUSA Members,
I look forward to seeing those of you who will be in Atlanta for the Midwinter Conference this year. As many of you know, this is my last conference as ALA staff since I’ll be retiring at the end of April 2017. It has been a wonderful 7½ years getting to know RUSA members and working to carry out the mission. It has truly been a pleasure and a privilege to serve you. I wish the association luck in the reorganization process – you are on the right path to a stronger and robust organization.
I hope those of you who will be in Atlanta will be at the Book and Media Awards reception. Always a special celebration, the Andrew J. Carnegie Medals of Fiction and Nonfiction winners will be announced along with all of our fabulous awards like the Notable Books List, the Sophie Brody Medal, the Reading List, the Listen List, Outstanding Reference Sources and many more! We expect a jam-packed crowd of book (and media) lovers, so please join us and bring a friend or two. It takes place Sunday, January 22, 2017, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Room: Georgia World Congress Center, B302-B305
Also, don’t forget to come to our RUSA Membership Social. It will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM, Room: OMNI, Cottonwood. Join us to eat, drink, network, win door prizes and learn more about RUSA. All conference attendees are welcome!
In addition, the RUSA board will meet once in Atlanta. The Saturday meeting has been cancelled to allow board members to participate in the Atlanta Women’s March. The Monday meeting will be held:
Board of Directors Meeting II (ASCLA)
Monday, January 23 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM Room: Georgia World Congress Center, B316
Have a great time in Atlanta!
Susan Hornung
Executive Director, ASCLA/RUSA
