It is such an honor to be joining the ASCLA/RUSA team as your new Executive Director. Over the last few weeks I loaded up a moving truck, bid farewell to family and friends and made a big move from Florida to Illinois. My little dog Clementine and I are loving Chicago and have been exploring our new home town to find everything from the best pizza to our neighborhood grocer to the perfect spot for playing fetch.
Transition can be exhilarating and fun, but it’s also exhausting. I know ASCLA/RUSA has been through quite a bit of transition this year – new websites and brands, new partnerships and structures, not to mention the departure of one Executive Director and the arrival of a new one. No doubt even more change is coming as we face the challenges of running meaningful library programs in the 21st century. One thing that hasn’t changed is ASCLA/RUSA’s unwavering commitment to the value of libraries. I look forward to getting to know you and learning how your association can better support you as you serve your local communities.
I welcome your feedback, suggestions and insight as I get settled in. Thank you so much for the warm welcome, and for the privilege of serving you.
