Baucicaut wins ILL mentoring travel award

Guerda BaucicautGuerda Baucicaut, Inter Library Loan & Reserves Specialist at the City University of New York was selected as one of two winners of the STARS Mentoring Award sponsored by Atlas Systems. The award offers  $1,250 to fund travel expenses associated with attending ALA’s annual conference and is awarded to a library practitioner who is new to the field of interlibrary loan/document delivery or electronic reserves, and who has daily, hands-on involvement in the areas of borrowing, lending, document delivery, electronic reserves, material delivery, or resource sharing.

Baucicaut understands the importance of networking and actively seeks out opportunities to learn from others in the profession. The American Library Association’s Annual Conference is one of the best chances to meet colleagues and Guerda will benefit by participating, both personally and professionally, in many different activities during the conference.  Guerda’s essay also emphasized the need for continuous learning for librarians and users alike and this acknowledgment of the importance of growth is another reason Guerda was chosen at the winner of the STARS Atlas Systems Mentoring Award.

The selection committee includes: Amy Rebecca Paulus (Chair), Kenneth L. Carriveau, JR., Renna Tuten Redd and Shirley R. Thomas.
