Ashley Johnson Chosen as BRASS Public Librarian Support Award Winner Sponsored Morningstar

Morningstar

Ashley Johnson selected as the 2020 winner for the Public Librarian Support Award for her enthusiastic outreach to her local business community; for her promotion of library resources; and for her achievements within her Chamber of Commerce which reflect positively upon the profession and upon ALA/RUSA/BRASS.

Ashley is active in networking and present at many business education opportunities. Ashley has become part of the the Buffalo Grove Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce’s New Member Orientation sessions where she informs members of the available business services at the library.  She is instrumental in spearheading the Chamber’s Young Professional (individuals 40 years of age or under) networking group. She acts as a Co-Chair on the committee. She has planned, scheduled and been present at each of the monthly groups. Ashley strives to grow the group and has used dynamic tactics to involve participants. The Chamber offers a Business Referral Network (BRN) group that is held monthly. Ashley is the youngest and only female member of the BRN steering committee. In her free time, she volunteers at the Chamber’s Annual Golf Outing. Again, Ashley demonstrates her ability to work with a diverse group of individuals, strong leadership skills and devotion to her community.

This annual award sponsored by Morningstar, offers a cash award of $1,250* in travel funds for a public librarian, who has performed outstanding business reference service, and who requires financial assistance, to attend the ALA Annual Conference.

Committee Members: Celia Ross (Chair); Wes Edens (Member); Michael Schor (Member).
