Join us on Thursday March 25th at 2:00 pm EST for the second of the Spring 2021 RUSA Volunteer Development Committee speaker series sessions related to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility (EDIA) issues in RUSA. In this session Jo Schofield will talk about her experiences serving on various book award committees and some of the ways the organization supports the overall mission of highlighting diverse and inclusive reading selections for the public. This session will include a presentation followed by discussion.

Jo Schofield is the Branch Manager of the DeHoff Branch of the Stark County District Library in Canton, Ohio. She is passionate about readers’ advisory and is currently completing her doctoral degree at the University of Dayton where her dissertation seeks to better understand staff barriers to offering high-quality readers’ advisory services. She has served on numerous book award committees in the past including the Sophie Brody Medal, RUSA’s Reading List, the ALSC Geisel Award, and the 2021 John Newbery Award. She is currently a member of RUSA’s 2022 Notable Book Council. She spends her time reading, visiting new places (when not in a global pandemic), and playing games with her family.
