

Rashida C. Scott, Library Assistant – Maricopa County Library District, Fountain Hills, AZ, is awarded the BRASS Student Travel Award sponsored by SimplyAnalytics for her enthusiastic dedication in providing approachable financial literacy programming and reference; for her commitment to business librarianship and community building; and for her exemplary work with patrons.
In her role as Library Assistant, Ms. Scott has provided thoughtful reference and outreach efforts to the community to share the usefulness of the financial tools that are available at no cost. This work allows patrons to identify sources of personal income, reliable sources of financial information, describe factors affecting take-home pay, understand how income affects lifestyle choices and spending decisions, find job opportunities, gain insight to different industries, and better understand the systemic issues that contribute to their spending decisions.
Established in 1992, this $1,250 monetary prize is given to a student enrolled in an ALA accredited master’s degree program to fund travel to and attendance at the ALA Annual Conference and a one-year membership in the Business Reference and Services Section (BRASS) of RUSA.
