Dear RUSA Members,
I hope everyone is enjoying the month of November. This Update is filled with happy news and RUSA events, which I hope many of you can attend.
As you know, in October the RUSA Board approved moving forward with reestablishing a peer-reviewed journal. We have now started the process of bringing back RUSQ (or a variant of RUSQ). A small team has formed to start the process and we have already been in contact with ALA Publishing. We don’t have any specifics yet for when we will accept manuscripts or resume publication, but things are moving along. Many thanks to Jenny Bossaller, Stephanie Graves, Bill Ladewski, Barry Trott, and Joseph Yue who will be brainstorming things like timelines and a publication schedule.
I also hope that many of you will be able to attend the RUSA Budget and Finance Committee’s Town Hall, which will be on December 5th, 12:00 PM Central. The Committee will be sharing information about RUSA’s budget. Registration information is here.
Also, save the dates March 28 & 30, 2023, on your calendar for the 2nd RUSA Virtual Forum, which is themed Reference and User Services-Re-imagined. Does your RUSA Section, Interest Group, or Committee have new projects to present? Updated or new Guidelines? Do you want to present on a trending topic? Please don’t forget to submit your proposals for the Forum! Each session will be between 30-45 minutes.
Submit your proposal here by Friday, December 2, 2022.
Questions? Contact Ninah Moore, RUSA Program Officer-Continuing Education, at nmoore@ala.org
Finally, I want to express my gratitude to both Jenny Presnell and Candice Townsend. Jenny volunteered to fill in as RUSA Secretary for the October and December Board meetings. Candice has agreed to fill in for our Board meetings in February, April, and June. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
