2026 BRASS Public Librarian Support Award

Joan D. Delgado, Business Librarian, New York Public Library, is the 2026 winner for the BRASS Public Librarian Support Award.

Joan D. Delgado

“As an early-career library professional, I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with and learn from fellow information professionals who are dedicated to expanding access to knowledge. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is serving the community and helping patrons discover the resources that support their goals. Libraries play a critical role in narrowing gaps in education and economic opportunity, and hearing how much patrons value these services continues to motivate me in this field.

I am excited to take part in the opportunities the 2026 BRASS Public Librarian Support Award provides and to apply what I learn to better serve my community. I sincerely thank the Recognition Committee for this honor and Morningstar for their generous sponsorship and support of public library professionals.” – Joan D. Delgado

“The committee was quite impressed by Joan Delgado’s commitment to connect services and technology to diverse backgrounds and life experiences, as well as his record of building meaningful outreach relationships with a wide variety of local stakeholders including the LGBT Manhattan Chamber of Commerce, the City University of New York, and the Dominican Women’s Development Center.” – Award Committee statement
