History

The History Section has been working steadily this fall. On September 23rd, we co-hosted a webinar with the ACRL History Librarians Interest Group on “Bridging the Past and Present Online: History, Democracy and Civic Engagement in Libraries and Archives.” Our panelists engaged in a discussion on the role of libraries and archives in practicing and promoting democracy. We are working on more programming for the new year, so watch history-l for announcements! History-l is also where you can get the History Round-Up, a curated collection of history-related news stories, announcements, and job postings put together by our own Meg Galasso! I also want to say thank you to everyone who has volunteered for a History Section committee! You can see our committee rosters here. If you are still interested in getting involved, please feel free to reach out to me – we can find a place for you!
Cheers,
Kathy Shields, RUSA History Chair, 2020-21
