Message from RUSA

From the President

Courtney McDonald

Hello, all,

I hope that you and your families are well and safe, and that you were able to find moments of joy and relaxation this summer, despite the turbulence and challenges that continue to arise as this year rolls on. RUSA has had a busy summer, with the programs presented as part of the ALA Annual Virtual Conference, our numerous online learning opportunities, and Section and committee discussions and events - plus our three well-attended Virtual Town Halls. Many thanks from myself and all of RUSA leadership for all the helpful input and feedback we've received from you during and after the Town Halls regarding the changing Definition of Reference and the Future of RUSA.

I want to extend a very warm welcome to a number of new colleagues who have transitioned from ASGCLA to join us: the , the , and the ! I look forward to getting to know each of you as we work together to further our shared commitment to reference and user services. I trust that you will find RUSA to be a supportive, engaging and inspiring professional 'home'.

As always, I invite each of you to contact me directly () with your ideas, concerns, or suggestions regarding how RUSA can support you and your work.

Take care,

The American Library Association announced that the 2021 ALA Midwinter Meeting & Exhibits will take place virtually. ALA President Julius Jefferson noted, "It is clear that as we continue to coexist with coronavirus, we need to adjust our approach to meetings and events. Though we very much hoped to be able to meet in person in Indianapolis, the health and safety of conference attendees, ALA members and staff, exhibitors, and other stakeholders are the priority."
